This task group is developing IPC-1791, Trusted Electronic Designer, Manufacturer, and Assembler Requirements. This standard will provide minimum requirements, policies and procedures for printed board designers, manufacturers and assemblers to become a trusted manufacturer/designer. Trusted manufacturers, assemblers and designers assure supply chain management, security, chain of custody and the protection of intellectual property (IP).
Demonstration of the ability to meet the requirements of this specification as a trusted manufacturer/designer benefits customers that provide end-product for all classes of product (e.g., commercial, industrial, military, aerospace, automotive, medical, etc.).
IP includes intangible and tangible information and material related to the design, manufacture and assembly of printed boards. This standard focuses on protection of the inherent IP designed and manufactured into the printed board or assembly, such that IP flowing from the customer down to the assembler, printed board manufacturer and designer is protected.
